Teaching with Human-Centered, AI-(Em)powered Instruction
After two semesters recording my own my insights and experiences with AI, this semester will highlight the voices of those who matter most—students. This semester, you’ll discover firsthand accounts of how they navigate AI integration, express their creativity, and engage with innovative learning experiences. I hope their stories and reflections inspire you as much as they have inspired me.
Here's a glimpse of what's to come this semester:
Socratic Seminar: Students will engage in deep, reflective discussions around the role of AI in society and education. This seminar will encourage critical thinking and the exploration of diverse perspectives, helping students refine their arguments and communication skills.
Project-Based Learning (PBL): Continuing our focus on hands-on, real-world applications, students will undertake various projects that challenge them to apply AI in innovative ways. These projects will be student-driven, allowing them to explore topics they are passionate about while developing practical skills.
PRIMER Assignments: Intentionally crafted assignments focused on Process-Oriented, Relevant, Interactive, Multi-Modal, Engaging, and Reflective (PRIMER) assignments will encourage collaboration, AI-resistant, real-world learning experiences.
Reflective Blogging: Students will regularly update their blogs with reflections on their experiences with technology, project learning, and classroom activities. This will be a space for them to express their thoughts, share insights, and connect their learning to broader contexts.
Collaborative Learning: Throughout the semester, students will participate in group activities that foster collaboration and peer learning. These activities will encourage teamwork, communication, and the sharing of ideas, helping students learn from one another.
Stay tuned!
